(a) If a testator dies outside the county of his residence and the witnesses to his will reside in the county in which he died, the judge of the probate court of such county may receive the probate in common form of the will and transmit it, certified under his seal of office, together with the original will, to the judge of the probate court of the county of the testator's residence.
