Florida Juvenile Procedure Rule 8.601

RULE 8.601. COMMENCEMENT OF PROCEEDINGS

(a) Pleadings. All proceedings shall be initiated by the filing
of:

(1) a request to take into custody;

(2) a petition for children in need of services; or

(3) a shelter petition.

(b) File to Be Opened. Upon commencement of any
proceeding, the clerk shall open a file and assign a case number.
